I’m cm Coleman and welcome to cm Coleman
0:02
home today I’m going to make jerky for
0:05
humans now I was calling this human
0:07
jerky but some people pointed out that
0:09
that might sound a bit off-putting so I
0:11
changed it let’s take a look at our
0:13
finished product first doesn’t that look
0:17
pretty good it really is tasty and it is
0:20
wonderful it’s a really easy thing to
0:22
make I’m going to show you how alright
0:25
my recipe uses four pounds of beef
0:28
because that’s what I could get I could
0:31
get four pounds of ground beef yes I’m
0:34
using ground beef I put my four pounds
0:36
of ground beef into my blender and then
0:39
all right now right right now I’m just
0:41
sort of breaking that up a little bit
0:43
more
0:44
I do might have to go through the whole
0:46
process of watching me put it into the
0:48
blender sort of boring now we’ll get to
0:51
our spices and everything
0:52
if using one tablespoon of paprika one
0:58
tablespoon of sea salt one tablespoon of
1:03
onion powder one tablespoon of garlic
1:07
powder one teaspoon of liquid smoke one
1:13
tablespoon of teriyaki sauce and an
1:17
eighth of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper
1:21
all right now here comes the cheating
1:23
part some of you might cringe but it’s
1:25
one of my easiest ways to do this I’m
1:28
going to put this into my blender and
1:31
you notice that it is blending
1:33
everything up you can do this by hand
1:38
it’s just it’s it’s easy by hand but I
1:41
like to use the blender because I want
1:42
to make sure that everything gets worked
1:44
well in the works into it very very well
1:48
mix it up make sure that all the time
1:50
chiquitos I’m keeping an eye on this
1:52
making sure that it gets all worked in
1:54
there
1:58
once it looks like everything is blended
2:01
in this is the best part about the stand
2:04
mixer is the fact that I can use it
2:07
really it goes really pretty quick there
2:12
we’ll turn that off whole face lit up I
2:15
have a separate bowl this was really
2:18
good now remember you are using raw meat
2:22
raw meat right now so when you’re using
2:25
raw meat you want to handle raw meat
2:27
with care which means I’m thoroughly
2:29
going to disinfect everything that I’m
2:32
using right now you’ll go to the
2:34
dishwasher it’ll be washed that whole
2:36
nine yards all right now I’m going to
2:39
take my mixture placing it into a large
2:44
bowl into any size Bowl realistically
2:47
but I wanted to get it out of a metal
2:49
bowl because I just don’t feel
2:50
comfortable with leaving the meat in a
2:52
metal bowl that’s just me you might I
2:54
will cover this over and put it in the
2:57
refrigerator for six to eight hours or
2:59
overnight it just depends upon how you
3:01
want to do this so six to eight hours in
3:03
the refrigerator and we’ll come back our
3:05
jerky has been has set up for uh it’s
3:10
been overnight a little bit longer cuz
3:12
of course everybody on the brother
3:14
decided to join me today and now it’s
3:16
time to put it into our wonderful jerky
3:19
gun if you don’t have one of these I
3:21
highly recommend it if not you’re going
3:23
to have to Pat it down and that’s a
3:24
little bit harder but all we do we take
3:27
the meat then I’ll take it in small
3:30
sections put it into the gun and that’s
3:36
it once we get this thing loaded up I am
3:43
finding that the beef jerky loads up the
3:46
beef loads up a lot easier than the
3:49
turkey because of course it is much much
3:53
drier outside than the chicken because
3:55
it’s much much drier you can check out
3:59
my dog treats which I make from which I
4:02
make with a ground chicken and you can
4:06
actually do this I suppose with lunch
4:08
sure you could
4:09
could actually do this using ground
4:12
ground turkey instead of beef I’ve heard
4:16
no I do not know this for a fact so you
4:18
can’t hold me to this one I’ve heard you
4:21
can do this with fish and I know you can
4:24
do it with turkey and probably just
4:27
about anything else if I were doing it
4:29
with pork I would cook the pork first
4:33
just in case all right I’m not going to
4:35
fill it up all the way so that we I
4:37
don’t have to bore you with the whole
4:39
watch what I’m doing for the next 30
4:41
minutes as I filled this thing up okay I
4:46
put on I put on my tip then all I’m
4:53
going to do lay down line the Rex use
4:58
this like a gun and we extrude our
5:07
ground beef then once I have the trays
5:13
all filled up I will let this I will not
5:17
let this ax I will turn on the
5:19
dehydrator which that’s the top wear it
5:22
right there I’ll turn on the dehydrator
5:25
and let it go until the food is totally
5:28
do you have not told that you hydrated
5:30
but dehydrated probably six to eight
5:32
hours and it should be still pliable so
5:36
if you bend it it cracks but it does not
5:39
break but it needs to be done you don’t
5:42
want to have you don’t be eating raw
5:45
beef there we go and we have one tray I
5:52
put the next tray on top I like to turn
5:55
it and that’s it so what we’ll do is we
6:01
will get this all full of the trays then
6:04
I will turn the dehydrator on and we’ll
6:06
come back once it’s all dehydrated once
6:11
your jerky is done in the dehydrator and
6:13
you can tell when it’s done because what
6:16
happens is when you bend the the jerky
6:20
it will Bend
6:21
but not break so that way you know it’s
6:24
dehydrated fully then you can store it
6:26
in airtight containers and eat it
6:29
whenever you want now this is a great
6:31
recipe to play around with you don’t
6:33
have to stick with my ingredients add
6:35
your own add more teriyaki sauce add soy
6:38
sauce add the seasonings that you like
6:40
to have in your jerky it’s fun to play
6:43
around with it’s really good in this one
6:45
of course you can take with you where
6:47
you go because well it’s jerky homemade
6:50
ground beef jerky give it a try I think
6:52
you’ll like this and it’s just something
6:54
that you can do any time I do recommend
6:57
getting the jerky gun but it is not
6:59
necessary you could take two pieces of
7:01
plastic wrap and just roll out the meat
7:05
in between the two pieces and then do it
7:07
that way
7:08
really simple like said give this one a
7:11
try I’m cm Coleman and I hope you’ve

A dehydrator is also an investment but once again I think that it is worth it. you can use it for fruits, veggies, herbs all sorts of things.

Ground Beef Jerky
4 pounds ground beef
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1 tablespoon teriyaki sauce
½ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

Mix all the ingredients together.
Chill 6 – 8 hours, or over night.
JERKY GUN METHOD: Load the gun with beef mixture. Extrude beef unto dehydrator racks.
PLASTIC WRAP METHOND: roll the beef mixture between to pieces of plastic wrap. Until it is ¼ inch thick. Cut into strips. Place on dehydrator racks.
Set the dehydrator on the recommended setting for meat jerky and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for time.
When the jerky is done allow to cool completely and store in an airtight container.
